Welcome to Ann Arbor Ultimate

Ann Arbor Ultimate Summer League End of Season Tournament

DATE:  Saturday, August 14th, 2010

PLACE:  Fuller Park, Ann Arbor

TIME:  11:00 am - 4:30 pm.  If you come late, we'll add you to teams that have had players leave, or are otherwise. There are four games, so there is plenty of playing time. After the games, we'll have a party with food and drinks at the park.  This is a green tournament like normal, so please bring your own cups or water bottles, plates (discs work well), and utensils, and of course biking or carpooling to the tournament is encouraged.

COST: Free for summer league participants. The cost is $5 for all non-summer league players, payable on the day of the tournament.  Please sign up online if possible to expedite the formation of teams.

REGISTRATION:  If you register online, you can sign up in groups of up to 4 players, like in normal league play. If you show up the day of the tournament, you can only be added to teams individually, since teams will already be mostly made and balanced.

CAPTAINING: We do designate captains for these teams, but all you have to do is get games started on time.  So if you have good spirit, please let us know if you are willing to take on this role.

GENERAL NOTES: As with all Ultimate leagues, the emphasis in this tournament will be on high spirit, great exercise, and fun for both newcomers and experienced players. Play hard, but play nice. And remember, violence, be it physical or verbal, is never acceptable, and will get you suspended, so please keep a level head.

•Bring light AND dark shirts to delineate teams, water, and cleats.
•Do not damage the fields. If we damage them, we will be fined heavily and not allowed to play again. If you're causing more than the normal wear and tear because the fields are wet, you have to stop. With regards to litter, leave the fields in better condition than you found them and report serious damage. The better care we take of the fields, the more we'll get to use them.
•Rules for tournament games: We play by the UPA 11th Edition rules with these two modifications below. For the full rules, see http://www.upa.org/ ultimate/rules/rules.shtml.
1.There is no turnover on dropped pull. Instead, defense gets to set up, like after a time out.
2.No kick blocks are allowed within 5 feet of thrower.
•Games are played to 13 or a pre-designated time limit given to the captains at the time of the tournament.
•Gender matching will be based on attendance.
•Visible lightning means that no games can be played, period. Everyone should return to their cars immediately, and wait the lightning out. Games can not resume until 15 minutes AFTER the last lightning sighting.
•After the games please do a cheer for the other team. This can be a quick "Great game!", a song with modified lyrics, a haiku, a mad lib, an interpretive dance, or a massive spirit game, such as rock paper scissors. Please display good spirit representative of Ultimate.
•There is no alcohol allowed on or near the fields.
•Most of all--have fun! Any questions, comments, or concerns can be directed to your captains, or to the organizers by emailing registration.at.a2ultimate.org
